A Saga Endeth

My bee is stilled!

Josh and I had some trouble with the living room curtains. Our adventures included:
1) A monumentally unsatisfactory trip to the Somerville discount stores.
2) Nearly ordering this fabric, only to discover that it was out of stock at the time.
3) A trip to Freddy Farkel's, and the concurrent discovery that a) everything that made me go "Hell yeah!" made Josh go "mmm...I guess that's okay," and vice versa, and b) we are both super good at liking fabric that costs $40 a yard.

However! At the eleventh hour, totally by accident, and after becoming resigned to the now-less-than-grand-seeming bubbles fabric, we stumbled upon just the thing! And it was on sale, no less!

New to the left, old to the right:
Curtains, new and old

All done but the hemming:
Curtains, all new

The only thing I'm not hopping up and down with joy about is the inside hems, which are a bit ripply. This is the price you pay for reaching the outer limits of your fabric budget - without a bit to spare, I had to use the selvages as the side hem allowance and blah blah blah you are bored now. Anyway, they are going to hang like that until tomorrow, while I decide if I can live with the ripples or should try to remedy them.

Oh, and, obviously we need some really fantastic tiebacks for these guys. The only limitation is that fringe is right out, as it would prove an impossible temptation for a certain Murray Pants. Wide black-and-white-striped ribbons? Big purple satin bows (to go with the couch)? What do you think?

What to do?

You have to help me with this:
Fabric dilemma

Sigh. Isn't that pretty? I have four yards of it. It wants to be a summer dress, but that particular shade of yellow gives me an unfortunate "Living Dead" quality (and I prefer to save that look for eveningwear, of COURSE). So, what should I do?

1) Resign myself to making a slightly less fabulous skirt.
2) Make a dress with a white or black collar, and hope that the terrible yellow pall can't cross it.
3) Hang onto the fabric for crafts to sell, or for the sunny kitchen that might someday need it as a curtain.
4) Make YOU a dress, you looks-good-in-yellow bastard, you.
5) Something else, which you will expand upon.

What's up?

How are things? I have this problem where, while I like spring, the beginning of it makes me tired. Tiiiiiiired. Sleep all day, work no way, Calgon take me away tired. So I've had that going on, combined with having a spell of not being able to do the actual sleeping part, plus having way too many chores, with the addition of some yay! spring! giddiness. I've been a disaster, is what I'm saying.

But today! Today I finished a marathon of desperate, last-minute productivity: a bunch of ghastly paperwork - over with! Some household tasks - accomplished! Some crafty goals - met! And so forth. Also, sleeping has gone pretty well for the last two nights. And here, right now, it is sunny and in the high sixties and I am wearing an outfit that looks, if I may say so, slammin'. So today, I am bounce-off-the-walls, last-day-of school hyper. Please free me from the shackles of my desk and chair. I wish I worked at a picnic. I think I could be very useful at a professional picnic, all chocolate cake and potato salad and big hats and maybe some croquet. (Also, what a great idea for a roving seasonal outdoor eatery/event, huh?)

How are you? What's your mood? What environment would suit it best?
