So, the end of this month will bring my 30th birthday. Or rather, my 23rd non-birthday, in addition to seven actual birthdays. It will be the approximate anniversary marking 30 years since my birth. Whatever.
The point is, I've decided to take the day off work, because I can and because last year no one complimented my nice birthday outfit so screw 'em. I am taking suggestions on what to do with my day. Parameters include: in the Boston area, accessible by public transport, and requiring modest funding, as I have already shot my luxury wad this month (got to get that irresponsibility out of my system while I'm still in my 20s, after all). Ladies and gentlemen, what should I do for fun on a random Tuesday?
Posted by hilatron at February 8, 2006 09:00 AM | TrackBackWell, it's crisis time around my house right now, as you know, but maybe towards the end of the month you could have a partner in crime on a Saturday to go to the Garment District?
Posted by: Kethrai at February 10, 2006 09:17 PMYes! Say the word, and the when. We should do the Allston rounds, too - there's some great shops right near my new apartment.
Posted by: Hilatron at February 10, 2006 10:25 PMFirst weekend in March? Some of the disasters may have mitigated by then....
Posted by: Kethrai at February 12, 2006 09:17 PMenjoy your day off! get your piggies painted!
Posted by: j at February 14, 2006 11:38 AMHave a birthday cake with candles.
Go to a trashy movie at matinee prices (if they have those in Boston).
If it's a nice day, go to the Arboretum and walk among the green (well, OK, this time of year, yellow-and-brown) things.
Also, first: sleep late.
Posted by: Doombot at February 23, 2006 10:10 AMGardner Museum comes to mind. It'd be great to visit there on a cold winter day, then retire to a pub and spend some time in spirited discussion over a warm beverage (or warm discussion over a spirited beverage) with a friend about the things you saw there. Whatever you do, Happy Birthday, and many, many happy returns.
