What the Kids Are Listening To.

Dear readers:

Do you know how long it has been since I've bought or acquired any new music? So, so long. I don't even know where to start, other than really really wanting UnEarthed.

I humbly request your suggestions as to what a robot might buy (or, you know, liberate in some fashion) so that she, too, can be one of the cool kids. What makes you happy? Why? Is it suitable for rocking out, preparing for a fancy-dress party, or malingering? Any advice you can offer on moving past my rut (however fabulous a rut it may be) of old-time R&B, jazz, classic country, and lady singers is also much appreciated.

Yours,
Hilatron

Hmm, let's see, off the top of my head (these aren't all new releases)...

-Talking Heads - Sand in the Vaseline (they also have a new re-mastered compilation out, can't remember the name).
-Morrisey - Suedehead
-The second, third or fourth Cake album
-Classic ska: Specials, Madness, English Beat and the like
-Neo-ska: Skankin' Pickle, Buck-o-Nine, M.M. Bosstones, Skivoovy and the Epitones, etc.
-New Order: Substance 1987
-Sublime: Sublime

Ok, I gotta go help make dinner, but I've got more if you want'em :).

If you don't have the Fountains of Wayne CD "Welcome Interstate Managers," you should totally get that. Also their 1999 album "Utopia Parkway" is awesome.

Signed,
Not one of the cool kids at all.
