What do I pay you people for?

Gah!

I'm reading through old entries this morning, making sure I have everything backed up properly, and what do I see in The Dog Lady of Henniker? I see this:

"All I know is, I feel lucky that I'm hear to tell you about it."

Well I am just so embarrassed. "Hear?" Augh! If there's one thing that makes my lip curl like Billy Idol's, it's a malapropism. And yet there one is, glaring at me from the pages of my own site, sitting there making me look like an idiot for more than a month.

And did one single person give me a gentle hint? No you did not. You guys would probably let a girl walk around with spinach in her teeth, wouldn't you?

Now I'm all paranoid. What else aren't you telling me? What misspellings, inaccuracies, grammar sins are lurking here that I don't even know about? No, really, tell me, please.

Back in the days when I had a regularly updated website (in the declining years of the last century) there used to be this gentleman in Cologne named... Jan... or Hans... or something who would regularly send me grammmatical and spelling corrections. It always kind of irked me that a strange German guy thought it was necessary to edit my writing. He was probably trying to be my friend, but it really freaked me out. I think that excepting professional or academic relationships, minor grammatical errors (much like minor gaseous emissions) are best politely ignored and swiftly forgotten.

Well, that depends on the person who made the error, and then the relationship of the person who wants to correct them. I for one would want to be notified immediately, but only by one of the members of a select list of people who know me well enough to know I'd want to be notified immediately (i.e. no random German dude). A blind assumption that I'd want to be notified immediately by a stranger is unacceptable, as is the failure of the trusted few to straighten out the situation immediately.

But I'm difficult.
