If what we see every day here is prototypical of the culture at large, I'm afraid the new style among the teen set is low-low cut jeans (or pants, or sweatpants rolled down at the top) and high cut THONGS. I asked a few kids about it; they reported that the "essence of cool" right now is to wear these in combination specifically so that people can see THAT you are wearing a thong -- in other words, not just the top, but enough of the bottom "rim" of the thong strongs should be showing for the average boy-peer to show.
Talk about something that makes you feel old. Jeez.
