Mystery solved.

Harrumph.

In a fit of entitlement inspired by Julia's April 16 entry, just last night I was asking, why aren't I popular yet? I mean, come on people. Compared to certain other sites out there, my stats are just pathetic. Inconsequential. When it comes to the numbers, I am a loser. What is the deal here? Surely, it cannot be a lack of brilliance...

Thanks to referral tracking, I believe I may have a clue as to the reason for my failure to achieve worldwide recognition, a stalker, or even one poorly spelled hate mail. It's harsh, but I've got to face the reality put forth by Tim: "Sadly, she doesn't discuss sex or violence, so there really is no reason to visit."

Ouch. That's no way to make a girl's morning bright and shiny. Where's the care? Where's the concern for a fellow blogger? This business is cutthroat, I tell you.

In my humble attempt to help your popularity, I have linked you!

The link will be seen by both people that read my blog!

Greetings earthlin... blogatron. When I become rich and famous we're going to have the first combination of half-wits, they'll be twins both named Wit but, well I don't have any other way to finish this gratutious post.

When you become famous, remember that I linked to you, I scratch your back - you scratch mine - and together we procreate.

In an effort to show all two of my readers what I *want* my writing to be like, I have hyped you on my blog. It's a short hype, because I'm doing about 20 things at once and I don't quite know what all to say except "go read this" but I guess they'll get the idea.

As far as I'm concerned, your blog is right up there with Tequila Mockingbird, Boo-Blog, and candygenius. Go look, you're in my top category of blogs. And you were before the update, too.

I found you. I thought you were famous.

My goodness, you all are so nice. I am afraid, however, that this will just reinforce the "whine for praise" mechanism. I'll try to behave, though, I promise.

I too have linked you for the benefit of my 3 regular readers, as well as the occasional pervert who stumbles in after a Google search for "boobies."

Try Sitemeter instead of Extreme tracking. You'll feel more popular immediately. :) It appears ET consistently undercounts by about two thirds. I used both for about two months, and ET consistently missed verifiable visits that Sitemeter caught.

Technically it won't make you more popular, but it will make you feel better.

i don't know... i blocked the robots from my blog and have kept the URL somewhat on the d/l but i used to get mostly referrals from google for ally mcbeal spankings and crap like that. it made me feel dirty.

I have a total of maybe 3 people who read my blog; and my writing, sadly, is generally what I consider to be subpar. If it makes you feel any better, I totally see you as one of the little group of elite bloggers that are all wittier than me and probably know each other somehow. Plus you make me laugh.:)
(And nothing wrong with whine-for-praise. There are ways of getting the attention you need, and that is one of them. I'm a middle child - I should know;))
