Get your lazy butt out there with a shovel, mortal!

badneighbor.gif

These are posters I intend to get made, to put in the yards of those people who have chosen to not shovel in front of their houses yet.

It's not funny anymore. The two feet of snow were pretty at first, but they are impossible to walk through. And walking in the street is rather life-threatening, now that they are 50% less wide than they used to be. Then there is the snow-melt-freeze process that has been going on, creating a slushy pathway along the side of the road which threatens to give way and shoot you out into the path of an SUV at any moment. I thought I was tired of almost getting run over before, but my tolerance has been tested anew in the last two days of car-dodging. My School-Marm-O-Meter has been going through the roof as I sludge along to work, pursing my lips and glaring at the houses with untouched walkways. Tsk, tsk!

What's that you say? Did I shovel after the blizzard?

Dude. I rent. Management agency took care of that nonsense.

hey- I too, have been annoyed by homeowners who, for instance, care enough about their homes to pay landscapers to plant ugly things in the two feet of "lawn" their Brooklyn brownstone gives them, yet, because they drive, do not bother with their sidewalks. Yesterday, however, I found out that they can be fined $500. if I call the Dept. of Santitation, and now I can happily turn in my neighbors!

As well you should! My dad, who has some sort of horrifying addiction to running, of all things, used to turn in people who didn't shovel their sidewalks properly. After he almost slipped and broke his neck, or was forced to risk being run over, he decided to start turning people in. It seemed to work, too -- at least until the next storm. So, by all means, I encourage you to start turning people in.

Today I had my first adventure outside since breaking me kneecap on Friday, and let me tell you, it wasn't fun! There's barely enough room to squeeze between the two cars closest to the outside door, and though I know it's not the fault of the people who park there -- seeing as the lot's 98% full of snow -- I can't be fucked to care if I accidentally scratched their paint in my struggle to get through. I mean, it's not like I'm in any condition to try to climb over a snowbank to go around them. I can't imagine how the girl upstairs, who I've found out has a broken foot from a similar accident, gets through their either.

*grumble*

Fuck winter! As far as people who don't shovel go, well... I'm sure there's a whole sub-level of hell for them.
